Introduction
Dammam moves fast, and its cafes scene grows every month. That leaves any visitor or resident with one question: which cafe can you actually trust? At Raddod we do not stop at the star average shown on Google Maps — we read what people actually wrote. For this report we analyzed 19,801 written reviews across cafes in Dammam and ranked the list on those texts alone.
This is not an advertisement and not a paid ranking. Every number here comes straight from our database, which refreshes daily. All 110 cafes we analyzed met the bar to appear — meaning each one has enough written reviews for its position to be meaningful. Businesses without enough written reviews were left out, because absence of evidence is not evidence of poor quality; it is simply absence of evidence.
How we rank
We start from written reviews only: the reviews that carry real text we can read and analyze. We compute an average for each cafe, then apply a Bayesian adjustment with a prior of M=50 that compares each business against its peer-group average. The reason is simple: a business with five glowing reviews should not outrank one that has proven itself across two hundred, and the Bayesian step handles that fairly.
We then rank each business within its peer group — cafes in Dammam — and assign a tier from S to C based on its percentile. Every step is explained in full on our methodology page. The important part is that the ranking is stable and reproducible: anyone with the same data reaches the same result.

What stands out

Why Raddod ratings can differ from Google
You will notice the Raddod rating does not always match Google's. That is because the two measure different things. The Google rating is the average of every star, including silent star taps: thousands of people leave stars without writing a single word. The Raddod rating uses written reviews only — the people who took the time to explain their experience.
Neither number is wrong; each answers a different question. Google's average tells you the quick overall impression, while the Raddod rating tells you what people say when they actually explain. Understanding the confidence level
The confidence level shows how much of a business's Google reviews were written reviews we could analyze — a signal of how much evidence stands behind the number:
- High: 10% or more of the business's reviews are analyzed written reviews.
- Moderate: between 3% and 10%.
- Limited: under 3%.
Limited does not mean bad. Many excellent businesses collect tens of thousands of stars against relatively fewer written reviews, so their coverage ratio falls without their quality falling. The level describes the available evidence, not the quality of the place.
The eligibility rule
To appear in this ranking a business must have 10 or more written reviews. This bar protects the list from the volatility a handful of reviews would cause. All 110 cafes we analyzed met the bar. Businesses below the bar still appear in the directory, but without a numeric rank, until enough reviews accumulate.
A methodological note on Dammam
Dammam is the most recently added city in Raddod's data, and its reviews were captured with higher written-text coverage than the older Jeddah and Riyadh imports. In practice, 72% of ranked Dammam businesses reach high confidence, versus 58% across the whole platform. This means Dammam ratings rest on relatively more written evidence — a note about coverage quality, not a claim that Dammam businesses are better than others. In total our database holds 439 businesses in Dammam and 73,435 reviews.
